Over the past few years many people have discovered that a great way to save money on a family vacation is to choose to stay in a vacation rental home. Multigenerational Travel On the Rise According to New Study
Grandparents Choose Orlando as Favorite Destination to Visit with Grandkids
The Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. (Orlando CVB) recently released the results of new national research conducted by Opinion Research's Caravan that examined travel preferences of grandparents.
According to the omnibus telephone survey, 28 percent of grandparents rated Orlando as their favorite destination to travel with their grandkids, ranking it above Washington D.C. (20 percent) and New York City (19 percent). Orlando was also ranked number one by 36 percent of grandparents in the category of "top three U.S. cities" to travel to with grandkids.
"Orlando continues to be the perfect destination for multigenerational family travel as there is something to meet the needs of everyone in the group, regardless of age," said Gary Sain, president and CEO of the Orlando CVB. "The recent study also suggests we're on-track with our efforts to increase the visibility of Orlando as a favorite destination for grandparents traveling with their grandkids. Our family friendly approach to the 'grandtravel' category appears to be gaining momentum," said Sain.
The Endless Summer campaign runs through November 15 and provides more than 40 accommodation offers. Orlando grandtravel visitors can also enjoy a month-long culinary thrill ride at top Central Florida restaurants participating in the 2nd annual Magical Dining Month Sept. 1-30. Savory appetizers, enticing entrees and sweet dessert sensations spice up the fixed-price menus of nearly 50 area restaurants offering high-value Magical Dining dinners.

Rental vacation homes – when a hotel just won’t work
Planning a successful summer vacation including making travel arrangements, and getting your home ready to be vacant for the duration of your vacation can be stressful. But, unless you’re planning a visit to family or friends, you have the extra burden of finding accommodations which will comfortably suit your family for an extended period.

Some essential packing tips for an enjoyable vacation
Before you start out on a vacation, whether on land or on a cruise, there is a lot of excitement. In this excitement, you may forget to pack some small, yet important items. On the other hand, over stuffing your suitcase is also unwise. You may have packed a whole lot of irrelevant stuff. So holiday planning is crucial. Some packing tips that may be helpful:

Another item that people tend to be careless about and over look is prescription medication. Please carry a copy of your prescription along with the original, if you can. This will come in handy as a backup if your luggage gets lost or mishandled. It is also sensible to put two sets of your medication in separate bags in case one gets misplaced or lost.
You must carry at least two pairs of bathing suits. For one thing, you may not want to be seen wearing the same one everyday, and more importantly, your only suit may not be comfortable and dry enough when you wish to use it.
Your packing list, in many cases should probably include sunscreen, a pair of sunglasses and few flip-flops. And if you are traveling to a cold place, don't forget the woolens like scarf, gloves, and socks.
Lip Balm is a small item that is often forgotten, and a small medical kit is essential on any trip.
Carry essentials like memory cards, batteries or films for your camera.
Make sure to keep copies of your travel documents and important information for emergencies.
Think of the time when you come back, and make sure to have change to make phone calls etc. if necessary.
You may also want carry a notebook and writing tool with you. This will help you to log in all your impressions while they are still fresh in your mind and make the experiences more complete and enjoyable.
